Summary You will serve as a Engineering Technician in the Availability Support Division of FW DEPLOYED REG MAINT CTR DET BAHRAIN as an Assessment Director (AD). Responsibilities You will advice to the Fleet of system engineering to complete tasks for development programs. You will manage technical engineering projects for Material Conditions Assessment program to accurately report material conditions. You will analyze and review technical engineering instructions and procedures. You will analyze study or investigation results to develop improvements in ship system design, maintenance procedures or operations Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Identifying analysis and subsequent corrective action of deficiencies encountered during shipboard equipment and systems inspections/ assessments; 2) Utilizing engineering disciplines (such as electrical, mechanical, structural, etc.) in order to analyze shipboard problems and determine required level of support from an overall equipment/systems viewpoint; 3) Directing and providing support for managing the execution of program visits and assessment events; and 4) Resolving various shipboard problems as well as their root cause(s) (i.e., design, maintenance or operational deficiencies) to ensure maximum life cycle . Additional Information for BAHRAIN: The Office of the Secretary of Defense (Personnel and Readiness) limits the number of Bahrain based DoD personnel accompanied tours. Dependent entry approval from Commander, U.S. Naval Forces Central Command is required for all accompanied tours prior to extending the final job offer and prior to issuing Permanent Change of Station (PCS) orders. Accompanied tours are not guaranteed. Tour of duty for Bahrain is 18-month unaccompanied or 24-month accompanied. The current workweek is Sunday through Thursday. Employees hired from continental U.S. will receive Sunday Premium Pay (computed at 25% of basic hourly rate, eight hours per week). Relocation and recruitment incentives up to 25% may be authorized. This is a Key/Emergency-Essential position. In the event of a crisis situation of war, the incumbent must continue to perform assigned duties to support mission requirements until relieved by proper authority. In addition, this position requires Anthrax vaccinations. The Anthrax vaccination is a series of 6 shots occurring at 0, 2 and 4 weeks; then at 6, 12 and 18 months, followed by an annual booster as long as you remain in the position. We strongly recommend that you begin the Anthrax series before arriving in Bahrain and provide a shot card or other medical verification upon arrival. If this is not possible, you will be required to report to the Branch Health Clinic to receive these mandatory vaccinations within 15 days of arrival. The Branch Health Clinic will also provide subsequent Anthrax vaccinations (to complete the series) as well as annual boosters. You may be exempt from Anthrax requirements if you provide acceptable medical documentation which provides medical justification for exemption.
