DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESLead the MEP design for building projects ranging from low to mid-rise office/ commercial buildings, retail, storage, plant rooms, specialty structures, and LV/ HV rooms.Project responsibility includes establishing the work scope, preparing budget estimates and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status to the Project Manager. Performing heat load calculations using HAP or similar software.Coordinating with multiple disciplines and working in conjunction with the Project Manager. Interacting and coordinating projects with design, construction, planning, and other related discipline leads. Preparing and issuing drawings, specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents. Provides input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and Junior Engineers working on the projects. Good experience of handling mechanical engineering aspect of a project from conceptual design stage, through to construction administration. Preparing reports for internal and external purposes based on Client’s requirements and conditional assessment studies. Attending Client meetings and interacting directly with Client/ other stakeholders. Assisting the supervision team in reviewing the technical deliverables from contractors and vendors, such as those for HVAC equipment and systems, for code compliance and/or physical or program deficiencies that would require capital expenditures. Reviewing contract drawings, specifications and other procurement materials that have been prepared by others and providing technical feedback on the results of the reviews. Reviewing and performing technical bid analysis. Should be team player, willing to lead as well as be a part of a team, focused on delivering the task as expected by the PM. Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with ten (10) years’ experience including but not limited to designing building HVAC systems, firefighting, plumbing and drainage.Conversant in the use of engineering software packages such HAP, McQuay duct and pipe sizer, including sizing of HVAC chillers and ducting, plant piping and fire suppression systems. Leading small to medium size projects from a mechanical design perspective. Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for team-based working. Sound knowledge of relevant local (KSA / BH) and international standards and codes of practice. Understanding of quality and safety aspects of the design development process. Able to implement QA/QC procedures for submittals. Good understanding of green building concepts, and implementation in design as required by stakeholders/ PM. Bahraini driving license holders will be preferred, but not mandatory.
