CAM is attracting leading international researchers and scholars in the four essential sub-specialties of Materials Science and Engineering: processing/fabrication, structure, properties and applications. The Center continues to expand its research profile both nationally and internationally through the establishment of a variety of research programs. In order to facilitate this type of high profile research, its facilities are constantly upgraded with the installation of major new equipment across many areas materials research. With top-notch researchers and well-equipped laboratories, the Center offers high-level expertise to the local oil and gas and water treatment industries as well as the tertiary technical education sector in Qatar.Duties & ResponsibilitiesPosition Summary:CAM invites applicants for a Research Assistant/ Associate position in the area of nondestructive testing (NDT) starting from Fall 2022.The successful candidate should have a good research record in the area of NDT for oil & gas industry applications. The successful candidate is expected to conduct research and provide technical support to the Center' industrial partners to solve their operational problems. Of interest are candidates have good experience magnetic particle (MT), liquid penetrant (PT), and ultrasonic testing (UT) methods for corrosion detection and inspection of steel welding. The successful candidate must be willing, and have demonstrated experience, to help create and advance innovative ideas across disciplinary lines and impact education and research in the NDT area. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering/Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline with 2-3 years of research experience and/or industrial exposure. He/she should be able to establish and maintain an independent and competitively funded creative research program and liaison with industry. The CAM is seeking dynamic individuals with strong technical expertise who, given the right opportunity and resources, have the ability and motivation to become leaders or further enhance their stature in their research fields. Competencies: 1. Good record of scholarly activities and research strengths in area of nondestructive testing for oil and gas industry.2. Having NDT Level III certification is a plus.3. Strong demonstrated problem-solving and resolution skills.4. Excellent organizational ability and strong interpersonal skills.5. Ability to work within a diverse, multicultural environment.6. Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English.7. Attract research funds and develop scholarly endeavors.8. Advise undergraduate and graduate students and be involved effectively in consulting, service duties, committee work.9. A pre-existing and growing international research network helpful for teamwork is expected from a successful applicant. 10. The ability to skillfully conduct interdisciplinary research with colleagues from other departments of the university will be seen as a plus.Duties and Responsibilities: 1.
