Senior Vocational Training Instructor
Responsibilities The incumbent:* Ensures that the approved programme is carried out efficiently, and that equipment and other training facilities are properly maintained, recorded and utilized; * Ensures that lessons, examination preparations, marking and keeping of class records are carried out efficiently; *Checks regularly the weekly progress reports of trainees and advises on necessary educational and/or disciplinary measures to be taken as appropriate; advises supervisor on the general progress of each course and stresses on individual cases of failure to achieve necessary improvements; * Prepares developmental plans for Vocational Training Instructors of the course or group of courses in his/her specialization;*Teaches in his/her subject of specialization as and when required; *Participates in the recruitment and selection of trainees for the various courses in his/her technical/trade group; *Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor. Education Required academic qualifications:A university degree in an approved course of study with major specialization in the field of the subject taught plus successful completion of a special professional Instructor Training Course of at least one year duration OR Two years post-secondary technical course plus two years Instructor Training Course OR Advanced university degree in a subject relevant to his/her field of specialization or in education or psychology.Desirable academic qualifications:PH.D. in the field of subject taught or in education or psychology.Professional qualifications:A special professional Instructor Training Course of at least one year duration for university degree holdersOR two years Instructor Training Course for two years post-secondary technical course holders. Work Experience It is required to have at least one year of satisfactory teaching experience as Technical Instructor “A” OR Three years experience as a fully qualified Trade Instructor “A”.The post is advertised for internal staff only.
