Job Description

You will supervise, plan, and direct the activities of up to 30 local national contracted personnel engaged in grounds maintenance and heavy equipment operation.

  • Develop recommendations regarding construction, maintenance and repair of roads, pavements and parking areas, athletic areas, and security fencing.

  • Supervise landscaping of all public planted areas and heavy equipment operation ensuring that each assigned staff member is competent to operate allocated equipment.

  • Co-ordinate and supervise non potable water truck (used for ground irrigation), sewer and garbage truck operations.

  • Assist with the planning and design of landscaping or horticultural requirements, including preparation of bills of material necessary to accomplish a project.

  • Assists the maintenance planning team by providing landscaping knowledge and expertise when required.

  • Use the SAP system to report on work order status, maintenance requirements, priority, material requirements and manpower times allocated.


· Supervisory experience involving grounds maintenance, heavy equipment operations, and quality assurance inspections with a certification in street works/construction.

· Ideally qualifications in construction health and safety.

· Able to manage outdoor work crews that perform multiple tasks and competent in reading, interpreting and working from blueprints, preparing rough sketches of work, and estimates of materials and labour.

Hold a valid driver’s licence and recognised heavy equipment certification/licence from home country.

· You should be a confident communicator with the ability to supervise, motivate, coach and train a team of mixed nationals and possess excellent communication skills in English and ideally be able to speak some Arabic or Spanish but this is not essential.

· Superb inter-personal skills and instant credibility are essential as they will be inter- facing with a number of people from different backgrounds, nationalities and religions.

· Be resourceful with a flexible outlook, have the ability to multi-task in order to handle competing priorities and be able to fit in to an international dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
