Overview Cracker Barrel is on the search for a Buyer to join our Strategic Sourcing Team at our Home Office in Lebanon, TN. In this role, you would ensure that Cracker Barrel Old Country Store restaurants are continuously supplied with the specified products at the best possible cost. You would be responsible for the development and implementation of purchasing strategies for the Facilities categories, negotiating and documenting supply agreements, managing supplier performance and relationships, and operating as a contributing member of the Strategic Sourcing department and a variety of cross-functional teams. Responsibility • Manage performance of and relationships with assigned suppliers.• Develop and implement strategies that identify the optimum supplier base, term of agreement, pricing methodology, and other terms and conditions which support the accomplishment of providing supply continuity of the specified product and/or services at the best possible cost.• Negotiate terms and conditions, analyze proposals and provide recommendations in accordance with approved purchasing strategies.• Be the Company expert and act as a resource with respect to industry, product, and supplier knowledge.• Monitor respective commodities, develop commodity strategies and present appropriate recommendations. Continuously seeks ways to reduce cost without impacting the guest experience. • Monitor supplier capacity/distribution capabilities to ensure that all quality, cost and service expectations are met.• Conduct regular performance, business, and financial reviews of current and potential suppliers.• Evaluate potential Margin Initiatives, document with Business Case and Champion Change in support of Department and Company Initiatives.• Work with the Product Development, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Finance, Operations, Risk Management, Construction, Facility Services, Innovation and other departments in resolving issues and capturing opportunities.• Act as the supplier’s representative to the Company and the Company’s primary representative to the supplier.• Lead and support the development of specifications, business process and continuous improvements of department.• Prepare cost forecasts for assigned products.• Effectively able to communicate orally supported by written communication to all levels of the organization• Mastery of hitting agreed upon timelines. Excellent follow up skills Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree is required.• Must have at least three years of relevant work experience with a track record of strong performance.• Restaurant industry or Finance / Accounting background experience a plus.• Must be analytical and possess strong numerical reasoning skills. • Must have ability to develop strong negotiation skills and contract management skills. • Be able to lead and participate in cross functional teams. • Position requires excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal and relationship management skills, ability to work independently and as a member of a team, ability to identify problems and develop solutions. • Maintain professional and positive business relationships both internally and externally. • Must be detail oriented and computer literate in the MS Office environment (Excel, Word, Power Point). • Must have ability to develop strong business acumen and critical thinking skills.NOTE: Racism, either overt or perpetuated through unconscious bias, has no place at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, and both our Mission and People Promise are firmly rooted in the principle of valuing what everyone brings to the table.
